Growth is both dynamic and constant, and because of that it usually involves a lot of trial and error. We are continuously growing and developing, either due to the diverse experiences we go through or because of our daily dealings with family, friends and colleagues, just to name a few. Whatever the circumstance, the foundation for any sustainable personal growth is the balance between the body and mind. Only when the two are aligned we can become successful and above all — happy.
Often we have a tendency to ignore unpleasant feelings. We do that in many ways, for example by focusing on external distractions (such as going out or scrolling through social media), avoiding being alone, or by numbing our feelings by overindulging in food, alcohol, drugs, work, sex or consumption. If we continue to ignore these signals and continue avoiding the signs, it will only amplify the imbalance which may lead to burnout, overstrain, fear, physical pain, anxiety or depression. Body-oriented coaching can be an effective means to prevent or remedy any of these issues.
Unprocessed grief, mourning that has not been lived through and trauma can become stuck in your body in the form of tension, shortness of breath or an apathetic feeling where little can really touch you.
This can manifests itself in daydreaming, worrying or overthinking. Everything that takes us out of the present moment and keeps us in our mind. This may cause confusion and forgetfulness about what actually happened.
Making contact with your body again means becoming aware of your own experience.
A body-oriented approach in combination with coaching, can ensure that you regain or strengthen your balance when it is lost or weakened.
Some signs of such imbalance can be:
- Chronic fatigue and lethargy
- A nagging tension in your shoulders, neck or lower back
- Feeling of stress or constant tension
- Shortness of breath
- Indecision
- Dissatisfaction and disappointment with yourself
- Procrastination and postponement of tasks
- Insecurity
- Fear of failure
Do you recognise yourself in any of these?
If that is the case, there is probably an imbalance between your body and mind.
Provide a strong foundation
If you take good care of yourself, this has a positive effect on your body, sleep, relationships, career and above all your sense of joy. If you don’t do this and let yourself be guided by external factors, you will miss a powerful basis from which you can grow. This directly affects your health and often results in stress, fatigue, indecision, ignoring your limits and eventually illness. I am happy to help you realise that powerful foundation.
Facilitating Change
To recognise the signs in time it is important to listen to your body. Your body is your best counsellor. But in our every day life we don’t always take the time to reflect on this and connect with our bodies.
We do that in our sessions.
Maybe press the pause button. And from this moment we start discovering where your goals and desires lie and what is needed to create more balance and peace between body and mind.
This is a journey of discovery through body-oriented coaching and self-inquiry.
Each session is completely tailor-made and adapted to what is needed for you at that moment. The focus is on discovering the challenges related to self-care, examining any resistance and developing strategies to overcome that and achieve goals for a powerful and meaningful life. You will leave the session more restful, with tips and exercises that you can then integrate into your daily life.
Through these sessions you will learn how to:
- Relax and rest
- Let go of tension and stress
- Develop or strengthen a positive self-image
- Better understand yourself and your relationships with others
- Become aware of your desires and needs, and what is needed to achieve them
- Connect your body and mind
- Gain stability in your daily rhythm
- Ignite inspiration
Behavioural change takes an average of two months; 66 days to be exact. How long it takes to realise behavioural change in you depends on your personality, the required change and the circumstances. In any case, real change takes time, patience, love, rest and space.
Single sessions
You are welcome to schedule individual sessions. After each session you can determine whether you want to continue and if so in what way. In consultation we determine the optimal frequency of your sessions. A session lasts 60 or 90 minutes.
